A.2.2. Conventions used in this manual

The following special conventions are used in this manual to make it easier to read:

Text conventions

Various typefaces in this manual identify terms and other special objects as follows:

Type Meaning
Monospace Data entry fields, e.g. "... field Analytical monitoring ..."
Italic IUCLID sections, e.g. "... in section 7.5.1 Repeated dose toxicity: oral."
Initial Caps and bold Commands are capitalised and set in bold, e.g. "... click the Open button."
Initial Caps IUCLID elements (objects) such as "Substance dataset", "Mixture dataset", "Legal entity"
Key combinations / Shortcut keys Key combinations and short-cut keys are represented by a plus sign, e.g. Ctrl+C, which means that the Ctrl key and the C key should be pressed at the same time. Note that the key names Ctrl, Shift or Alt displayed in the IUCLID menu optionsappear in the language set for your operating system.

Throughout this manual, the following elements can be found which provide ancillary or very important information:

Tip

Tips are intended to point out features, work-arounds, and tricks.

Note

Notes provide extra information on a topic.

Caution

Cautions point out possible pitfalls and warnings.

Cross references (links)

Cross references are designed as links which point you to other locations in this manual that will provide additional or supplemental information. Links are underlined as common in web pages and normally indicated "see chapter X", e.g. "(see chapter A.2.2 Conventions used in this manual). They can be activated by clicking on them with the mouse.

Other

In the entire manual, "IUCLID" without version number always means the new version "IUCLID 5". The version number is normally only specified if the distinction between IUCLID 4 and IUCLID 5 is necessary.
