Across all IUCLID features a main menu and toolbar buttons are available in a separate pane on top of the screen below the title bar of the IUCLID window. They give access to most of the functionality found within IUCLID. Apart from the tasks displayed in the Task panel, commands needed to create, edit, view, export, print or delete records can be chosen.
The following screenshots show the menu options. Commands preceded by an icon are also available as toolbar buttons displayed in the toolbar right under the menu bar.
An overview of all edit symbols is also given in chapter D.4.4 Overview of edit symbols.
Depending on which feature you have opened and operations done before, some functions are displayed in light grey, which means that they are unavailable. For instance, the Save command is only available if any changes have been made to a given record; the Create dossier command is only available when you have opened one of the IUCLID sections 0-3, but not of sections 4-13.
The shortcuts keys (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+S) displayed in the IUCLID menu options appear in the language set for your operating system.
You have the following possibilities for choosing a command or option:
Selecting from the menu bar: Click the menu name and then the desired command if available. For example, to print a record or dossier you would click File on the menu bar and then click Print. Some menu options are followed by an arrow which opens a submenu from which you can choose the desired command.
Keyboard selection on the menu bar: If you are a fast typist, you might prefer using the Alt key to select commands instead of using the mouse. Notice that the menu names have an underlined letter. This is the letter you press on the keyboard to open the menu and select the command. For example, press and hold the Alt key and then press the F key to open the File menu.
Keyboard shortcuts: You can press the shortcut listed next to the command name on the menu. For example, the shortcut for pasting is Ctrl+V (press and hold the Ctrl key and then press the V key). The advantage of this method is that you need not open any menu, provided you know the desired shortcuts by heart. Some of the IUCLID shortcuts are the same as available in most Office applications, namely Ctrl+X (Cut), Ctrl+C (Copy), Ctrl+V (Paste).
Using the toolbar: You can click a specific button to select a command. For example, click the Undo button to undo the last operation(s) which is the same as selecting Edit, Undo from the menu.
If you are not sure what a button does, hover the mouse pointer over the button. A ScreenTip (the command name) should appear.
In the following all available commands are briefly explained in the order appearing in the main menu bar:
